Iceland - Stokksnes Aurora

An amazing display of northern lights over the Stokksnes mountain range. We only got one night of good activity in our 11 day trip, with a bit of cloud cover. You can actually see the aurora light up the sky, dancing over the black backdrop that was the night sky. An incredible night, something photos could not capture adequately.

Through The Clouds

Through The Clouds - Milky Way Taken during a stormy night, I was lucky to see part of the milky way peep through the clouds before quickly disappearing again. With more galaxies out there than grains of sand on this planet, it is truly breathtaking to imagine we are witnessing through the camera lens distant the life and deaths of stars outside our own galaxy (for those curious, these stars can be many thousands and millions of light years away. We are merely witnessing a history of some distant galaxy that could have already imploded upon itself as the star dies)
